Right now the avs are not making the playoffs. How many more winning streaks can you ask for. The avs at this point rarely play a full game and the lines are just not wise. I still vote to fire sacco.

Posted this in the other forum but when did they stop playing full games? When O'Brien went out. Johnson does well but he needs a veteran leader with him.

Avs will need to keep going and get back to basics when O'brien comes back next game and then hold on until Duchene comes back. If they could add another scorer, they'd be better suited for a run in toward the playoffs.

Minnesota just lost Koivu and Dallas Benn so the Avs have caught a good break here. Just have to get back to the grind this week.

Playoffs don't really start taking shape until after the All Star Game. Need I remind you, after what happened last year after the ASG, how much can happen last two months of the season?

Bring Tyson Barrie up for Hejda! I know Barrie isn't exactly known for his defence, but can he get much worse than Hejda? At least Barrie can make a pass out of the zone of lug it out with his speed.

AMEN to that statement. I feel that it was the players who decided to play strong Defense in front of JSG's incredible goaltending and not a coaching "adjustment" by Sacco. He still can't adjust in between games let alone on the fly. But the biggest problem with Sacco is he doesn't get the best out of his players or put them in a position to succeed. And the few he does try to put in a position to succeed are out of place..........See: Porter, K. Most of our players have plateaued.....they are stuck on "Inconsistent at Best".

The playoffs are still possible and it was just one game. I am more bothered by the long runs of hot and cold streaks. Winning 11 or 13 just to loose 5 of 6 is frustrating. It will be nice to get O'brien back though

We would have to throw in a pick and would most likely prefer to only trade 1 roster player and then add in some prospects and maybe maybe maybe a pick

Hejda is a disaster out there. Without that turnover that lead to Doan's first goal it could have been a completely different game. The Avs came out strong and after tying it up it seemed like they could take over the game until that goal.

Also Giguere needs to get the bulk of the starts until he shows that he is letting down. Not only is he the better goaltender right now, he is also the better leader; the team seems to fight harder for him.

Unless Parise is signing an extension it would be completely ridiculous for the Avs to trade for him. The playoffs are a long shot at best.

I like Parise - but isnt he a pending UFA - thats a lot for the AVS to give up for a player who can potentially walk away end of season.

I have no issues on giving up on Stastny - but the AVS have to obtain an asset that they can retain

Ugh. I wouldn't give up that much for a player that is set to be a UFA this summer.

Glad I had to work today.
I like the idea of adding Parise (who wouldn't) and wouldn't mind including stastny in the deal, but I don't think that will happen. Won't nj be looking for more of a defense, goalie in return? While it is reported that Parise wants to go to a contender (not us), it is also reported he wants to go somewhere where he is the #1 guy. That could be the Avs for a couple years anyways.
FWIW, I don't believe stastny will resign with the Avs if he isn't traded before his contract ends.

NJ needs a goalie of the future, so a prospect would do. While we could move Pickard there are better goalie prospects out there. The Devils are fairly week at center and their D could use improving. They would welcome a quincy or a barrie.

Its possible but unlikely as LA seems to be the perfect trading partner for the Devs.

Also I dont know if we can say whether or not stastny is going to say, but I can say there is no way he will make as much as he is now.

Also everyone wants to go to a contender so thats null, but you could make an argument that the avs are a player or 2 from being a contender, but mostly that they are heading in the right direction and he would definitely be the #1 guy

Totally agree, plus he doesn't have a no trade does he? So his wish list is somewhat subject to what nj management wants to do. I have to agree about LA as well.
